Frequently asked questions

Your work looks like it has words in it - what does it say?

Each painting contains a story, a thought process, an expression. These words are part of my internal struggle and artistic process, and are meant for only me to be able to read. However, I’m always happy to have a conversation with you about my inspiration for the piece and give away a few secrets as to what it says.

What type of paint do you use for your work?

My main tool is acrylic paint. I also use acrylic ink, watercolor ink, india ink, charcoal, pastels, pencil, and textural substrates.

Do you sell prints of your work?

Yes, some of my work is available in archival matte poster paper or photo paper poster prints.

May I commission a painting?

Yes, of course! Please contact me with any ideas you have, as well as a budget, and we’ll get the conversation started. There is no purchase commitment before work is started. For commission inquiries, please use this form.

Can I choose what words are included in my commissioned painting?

Yes, of course! I’ve used anything from wedding vows to specific poems or writings in my commissioned works. Please know that although your specified text is included in the painting, this does not mean it will be legible. Illegible writing is a defining quality of my work, and that aspect cannot be compromised.

What is your turnaround time for a commissioned painting?

Turnaround time is 2-3 months after all aspects of the piece and a plan have been discussed. Depending on my workload, framing options, and other factors, this timeline may be extended. I will work with you on an estimated completion date for your specific project.

I live near Madison and would like to pick up my painting. Do I have to pay shipping?

If you purchase an original painting and would like to pick up your art in Madison WI, please choose pickup at checkout. Once I receive and complete your order, I’ll contact you to schedule a pickup in Madison. This will avoid shipping costs.

Where or how can I acquire some of your work?

Please visit the online shop, come visit me at an art sale, or head to the Farwell Gallery for selections of my work.

I have an idea or I would like to propose a collaboration. How do I do that?

Feel free to contact me with any proposal or collaboration ideas! If you have an idea, a potential collaboration in mind, or you know someone I should meet, please write me an email or contact me via the form.

Why is art so expensive?

High quality work takes skill, and skill requires a lot of experience and work. When you purchase art, you’re buying years of experience, schooling, hard work, and practice that brought an artist to the place they are. You’re supporting a person that works with their hands and from their heart to put themselves out into the world. Creating work with high quality, archival materials is costly, but is worth the value to have a long-lasting unique piece of work that the artist can present with pride and you can enjoy for years to come.

Where can I see your work? Where is it displayed or shown?

I currently have work available for public viewing at Farwell Gallery in McFarland, WI, as well as some other local places on rotation. Stay updated for rotating gallery shows and exhibitions by signing up for the email list or checking the events.
